THE PROCESS

Commissioning a custom piece from GGWOODWORKS is more than just placing an order - it’s about designing something meaningful, functional, and tailored specifically to you. Whether you’re furnishing your home, upgrading your workspace, or creating something bold for your brand, each build starts with a conversation and ends with a piece you’ll be proud to own.

From the very first sketch to the final coat of finish, every project is built with care, character, and craftsmanship. Here’s how the process typically unfolds:

Step One – Let’s Talk

Reach out via email or the contact form and let me know what you have in mind - whether it’s a live-edge desk, a furniture piece, signage, or something completely custom. If needed, I’ll send over a quick questionnaire to help clarify the style, dimensions, materials, and goals for the project.

We can also schedule a call or meeting to go over ideas, reference images, and explore finishes or wood options together.

Step Two – Rough Estimate

Based on the initial concept and details provided, I’ll offer a ballpark price range. If the estimate aligns with your vision and budget, we’ll move forward to refining the design.

Step Three – Design & Final Quote

This is where ideas become real. I’ll present you with a refined design concept - sketches, mockups, or inspiration images - and we’ll finalize the dimensions, wood selection, and design features. Once approved, I’ll provide a detailed quote.

To lock in the build, a 50% deposit is required. At this stage, I’ll also give you an estimated timeline for completion.

Step Four – Crafting Your Piece

Once everything is confirmed, I begin building your piece in my Troy-based workshop. I work with a combination of traditional hand tools, modern CNC and laser processes, and a deep respect for quality materials.

Throughout the process, I’ll keep you updated with photos and progress notes. And if you’re local, you’re always welcome to stop by and see the build take shape.

Step Five – Delivery or Pickup

When your piece is complete, we’ll coordinate local pickup, delivery, or white-glove shipping. For larger builds or long-distance orders, items are fully crated or blanket wrapped for protection in transit.

Have a unique idea in mind or not sure where to start?
